I finished my first patch ever, and it sold this weekend at the marcon 2008 art show. I was pretty proud of it, so I’ll be posting pictures later.
Marcon 2008 was a great time for me. Attendance was low, and it was quiet. Sales were terrible, general consesus was that the gas price issue is killing a lot of people. The issue is depressing, and without a good answer. T.T
I was panalist for three panals, character evolution, evolution of anime, and deep thinking/mind bending anime. I had a fantastic time, although I got frusterated in evolution of anime due to doing my research, and then the panal was taken over by the head of anime programming. But he knew what he was talking about, so I’m not too upset, looking back. I had all three Friday, and with little break.
For most of the con, I pretty much sat myself down in the anime programming room and never left. We had two voice actors this year, one of them being my favorite, Tristian McAvery. The panals themselves were for the most part well run, and lead to what I thought was interesting discussion. I throughly enjoyed manly men. And to be honest, I love my men manly.
My favorite thing was the masquerade. Sci-fi masquerades are so much better then anime con ones, and this year was so incredibly amazing. Best in show was a guitar hero skit, were the various characters were dueling with death to rescue their stage crew. And each one had a various sci-fi/fantasy theme thing to play. One was Harry Potter, one was Lord of the Rings, one was Doctor Who, you get the picture. And the guy who saved them was the asian from heros with the iron man rift.
What I bid on in the art show was a gorgeous black unicorn banner, and unfortunately, I lost it.
I got a t-shirt, a tsubasa drama cd (since it seemed one of those cases I better buy it), a comic book, and a little bronze dragon.
Overall, I also saw many old friends, and some new ones, who I already miss.
